Katie has been a nurse for over eight years working with babies and children, and has breastfed all three of her boys--yes, her house is chaotic! Walking alongside parents and families has been an honor, and demonstrated to her the power of perseverance, devotion, and resiliency. Her motherhood has been shaped by her patient encounters, allowing her to learn from a village of strong, determined parents.
After almost a decade at the bedside at Children's Mercy in downtown Kansas City, in 2023 she joined Pediatric Care North's Lactation Department to complete the rigorous training and education to become a board certified Lactation Consultant. In July 2024, she did just that and officially became designated as an IBCLC -- the gold standard for lactation care!
Katie has an immense passion for education, completing her Masters' in Nursing Education in 2021. She has initiated and currently teaches the CPR/Choking and AED and other classes in our Educating and Empowering Parents series. Katie also organizes the morning Moms Support Group on the 1st, 3rd (and occasional 5th) Tuesday every month, from 10:00-11:00 am!
